The Main Event!

The World Series of Poker is heating up. Daniel Harrington, one of the World’s most successful poker buffs, is one of the 1,489 competitors in this year’s tournament. Harrington has written many books on poker, which a lot of these young players have read, so it’s important for him to try to remain neutral, sometimes raising higher or calling when he would normally raise. As of Wednesday Harrington was down to 20,000 of his 30,000 clay poker chips.

A lot of the most successful players are younger guys, who like Peter Eastgate and Joe Cada, at 23 and 21 respectively, are the winners of the last two Main Events. Dan Kelly, 21, won the no limit hold ‘em six handed tournament for well over $1.3 million. He said that his and a lot of the other young folks’ success can be attributed to starting poker at such a young age, with the help of the internet.

Another newsworthy attendee was Phil Dwek, a medical student from Toronto, who showed up in Vegas wearing a Batman costume. He was slightly above averagein the clay poker chips count after his first day of play.

As the Main Event continues, make sure to check back into this blog for updates and poker chip sets advice.
